Knotweed Treatment 2013

Knotweed Treatment 2013

In the summer of 2013, the District treated 2 acres of knotweed in Nez Perce County. Treatment focused within the Lapwai Creek watershed as this area contains the highest concentration of knotweed within the county. Knotweed control is labor intensive as an injection control method is used for the majority of treatment areas. The reason for the stem injection method is to eliminate herbicide impacts on non-target species such as cottonwood and willow. This project was funded through the Bonneville Power Administration’s Fish and Wildlife program, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, and the Idaho Governor’s Office of Species Conservation’s Snake River Basin Adjudication Program.
