Weed Control Priorities

Buffalo BurThe Nez Perce Conservation District adopts the weed control priorities outlined by the Clearwater Basin Weed Cooperative Weed Management Area (CBWMA) as follows:

Management Objective Definitions:

Eradicate: The elimination of every individual of an invasive plant or noxious weed from the CBWMA including all viable seeds and/or vegetative propagules.

Control: Viable seeds and/or vegetative propagules are prevented throughout the target patch and the area of coverage of the weed is decreased over time. Prevent the weed from dominating the vegetation of t+he area but by accept low levels.

Contain: Noxious weeds and invasive plants are geographically contained and are not increasing beyond the perimeter of the infestation.Reduce: The density and/or rate of spread of noxious weeds and invasive plants is reduced across a geographic area.

Custodial: Infestations are treated in association with other weed management priorities. Species may not be inherently invasive or habitats not susceptible to invasion within the Clearwater Basin. The infestation may be beyond current technology or financial capacities, making control, contain, contain or reduce inherently impossible.
