Salmon Habitat Recovery

The Nez Perce Soil and Water Conservation District recognizes the importance of salmon habitat recovery, in order to restore endangered and/or threatened salmon populations to a self-sustaining level.

Program Purpose

Restore and enhance salmon habitat identified as threatened or endangered.

In This Section:

  • Watershed Restoration Activities
    The Nez Perce Soil and Water Conservation District is involved in several programs for the enhancement and restoration of salmon habitat within the tributaries of the Clearwater, Snake and Salmon Rivers. The District obtains funding from Bonneville Power Administration for projects within the Lapwai Creek watershed. While funding for efforts in the Cottonwood Creek, Catholic Creek, Pine Creek, Bedrock Creek and Jacks Creek watersheds is obtained from the Idaho Governor’s Office of Species Conservation.
  • Nez Perce County Activities
    The District works closely with Nez Perce County to identify projects that benefit salmonid habitat recovery.
