USDA Farm Bill Programs

(CRP) Conservation Reserve Program

Purpose: To establish long-term vegetative cover on highly erodible cropland or other environmentally sensitive land to improve soil, water, and wildlife.

Special Emphasis: Highly erodible land, riparian and wetland habitats and those for rare plant and animal species.

(CSP) Conservation Security Program

Purpose: To promote the conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and animal life, and other conservation purposes on Tribal and private agricultural lands.

Special Emphasis: To support ongoing conservation stewardship of agricultural lands.

(EQIP) Environmental Quality Incentives Program

Purpose: To install or implement structural and management practices on eligible agricultural land to improve soil, water, air, and wildlife.

Special Emphasis: Highly erodible land, animal feed operations, riparian and wetland habitats.

(GRP) Grassland Reserve Program

Purpose: To restore and protect grassland, rangeland, pastureland, shrubland and certain other lands and provide assistance for rehabilitating grasslands.

Special Emphasis: Grasslands vulnerable to conversion to cropland or other uses.

(GLCI) Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative

Purpose: To maintain and improve the management, productivity, and health of privately owned grazing land.

Special Emphasis: Sensitive areas including riparian areas.

(WHIP) Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program

Purpose: To develop and improve wetland, riparian, and aquatic wildlife habitat primarily on private lands.

Special Emphasis: Habitats for wildlife species experiencing declining or significantly reduced populations, practices beneficial to fish and wildlife that may not otherwise be funded, and identified local special concern habitats.

(WRP) Wetland Reserves Program

Purpose: To establish long-term vegetative cover on highly erodible cropland or other environmentally sensitive land to improve soil, water, and wildlife.

Special Emphasis: Provide critical fish and wildlife habitat, improve water quality by filtering out sediments and chemicals, reduce flooding and recharge our groundwater.
